Re: Background Note: Burma published by the Bureau of East Asian and Pacific Affairs
       On August 3, 2011

Dear Madame Secretary,

We have the honor to point out the sub-title “People” under which the Background Note of Burma mentioned that “Rohingya” is one of the majorities of Burma’s ethnic groups. We are very much regrettable and astonished to read such so-called Rohingya as an ethnic group of Burma on your esteemed Background Note. In fact, our Burmese history shows that the main majority of indigenous ethnic groups of Burma are Burman, Shan, Karen, Arakanese (Rakhine), Kachin, Chin, and Mon.

The term “Rohingya” is synonym of alien Chittageonian separatists of Jihadist Mujahidin known as Mujahedeen. They had come from Bangladesh (formerly known as East Pakistan) and settled down in the northern part of Arakan (Rakhine) State. They are only Chittagonian Bengalis. They have no legal right to claim themselves of the ethnic identity of Rohingya in Burma. There are new breed of Muslim groups called themselves Roshigya and formed the several organizations such as (RSO) Rohingya Solidarity Organization, (ARNO) Arakan Rohigya National Organization, (ARIF) Arakan Rohigya Islamic Front, and (ARNC) Araken Rohingya National Council. There are links between ARNO and Al Qaeda.

We, therefore, like to request you that the so-called Rohingya which was wrongly mentioned in the Background Note: Burma under reference may kindly be removed.  You are also honestly requested not to use the Rohingya as one of the indigenous ethnic group of Burma in future, since there is/was no such “Rohingya” ethnic majority or minority in our history.

Best regards.

Sincerely yours,
